چکیده

The landing gear system is the dominant airframe noise source for most modern commercial aircraft during approach. This manuscript reports results from ALLEGRA (Advanced Low Noise Landing (Main and Nose) Gear Regional Aircraft) project. project assessed performance of several highly realistic low–noise technologies (LNTs) applied to a detailed full–scale nose (NLG) model in aeroacoustic wind–tunnel experiments. Four individual concepts tested, namely ramp door spoiler, solid wheel axle fairing, hub caps, multiple perforated fairings. Combinations small variations some these LNTs were also evaluated. use planar microphone arrays allowed application 2D 3D acoustic imaging algorithms assess location strength sources within NLG different emission directions each configuration. axle, inner hubs, steering pinions torque link identified as noisiest elements. fairing was effective LNT, it improved its when combination with spoiler reaching overall reductions more than 4 dBA.

Dynamic Response Analysis of Generic Nose Landing Gear as Two DOF System

Landing gear is a structural component of an aircraft to support the weight while it is on the ground and also to aid safe landing. A generic analytic model for linear dynamic analysis of landing gears, which captures responses of individual components, is seldom available in literature. In the present work an analytical model for the linear response analysis of landing gear is developed. The l...

Aeroacoustic Analysis of a Simplified Landing Gear

A hybrid approach is used to investigate the noise generated by a simplified landing gear without small scale parts such as hydraulic lines and fasteners. The Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings equation is used to predict the noise at far-field observer locations from flow data provided by an unsteady computational fluid dynamics calculation. A simulation with 13 million grid points has been complete...

Interaction of torsion and lateral bending in aircraft nose landing gear shimmy

In this paper we consider the onset of shimmy oscillations of an aircraft nose landing gear. To this end we develop and study a mathematical model with torsional and lateral bending modes that are coupled through a wheel-mounted elastic tyre. The geometric effects of a positive rake angle are fully incorporated into the resulting five-dimensional ordinary differential equation model. A bifurcat...

Aircraft Landing Gear Design & Development

Landing gear is one of the critical subsystems of an aircraft. The need to design landing gear with minimum weight, minimum volume, high performance, improved life, and reduced life cycle cost have posed many challenges to landing gear designers and practitioners. Further, it is essential to reduce the landing gear design and development cycle time while meeting all the regulatory and safety re...
